The Leave No Trace program for Cub
scouts is easy and important to teach at this age. At the
Cub Scouts age they learn LNT and it will stay with them
for a life time.
The importance of Leave No Trace (LNT):
Just a few years back the BSA almost lost it’s ability to
use federal and state lands for camping. Even though we
have used the outdoor code for years we still have a huge
impact on camping facilities. Some of the complaints are
that our groups are too large, we are too loud, and we do
not show up for service projects. The impact that we have
is huge.
What do the Cub Scouts and their
Leaders need to do to earn the Leave No Trace Awareness
Award? This first link will give you the guidelines to
help you earn the award.

ranks require a signature on.

Finally there are several sites that can get you
information on Outdoor Ethics, Leave No Trace, and Low
Impact Hiking & Camping. The one I use is the official
Leave No Trace Site. There is an area that you can
purchase the reference cards, books, handouts and posters.
It also list available training. Remember Leave No Trace
is not a BSA program but the BSA has adopted it and uses
it.
